September is Suicide Prevention Month

Updated: Sep 11

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and its impact reaches far beyond the individual. Families, friends, teammates, and communities are all touched by its ripple effects. Yet, suicide is often preventable when people have access to support, resources, and compassionate care.

Recognizing warning signs, offering support, and fostering open conversations about mental health can save lives.

What are the recognizable signs?

  1. While everyone’s situation is unique, some common warning signs may include:

    • Talking about feeling hopeless or like a burden

    • Withdrawing from friends, family, or activities

    • Extreme mood swings or noticeable changes in behavior

    • Loss of interest in things they once enjoyed

    • Talking about wanting to die or harm themselves

  2. If you notice these signs in someone, it’s important to check in with compassion and encourage them to seek help.
